EU Legislative Interests

AE is an active participant of a number of projects co-funded by the Innovative Medicines Initiative/Innovative Health Initiative. In 2022 and 2023, AE received an operating grant from the EU's disability programme (Citizens, Equality, Rights and Values programme - CERV). As a member of the European Patients' Forum and the European Disability Forum, the organisation follows legislative proposals and campaigns such as the European Social Pillar, the Work-Life directive, the European Care Strategy, the European Disability Card, the "Healthier Together" NCD Initiative and the #EU4Health Campaign.

Communication Activities

For the 2024 European Parliement elections, AE adopted the Helsinki Manifesto with the political priorities of the European Dementia movement. It will launch a campaign asking candidates to sign the European Dementia Pledge and asking candidates to commit to joining the European Alzheimer's Alliance on their election. The association publishes the "Dementia in Europe" magazine three times a year in which it features interviews with European and national policy makers as well as updates on relevant policy developments. The association also regularly organises lunch debates in the European Parliament which are hosted by members of the European Alzheimer's Alliance.
