Mission & Goals
SolidarityNow (SN) is a Greek non-profit, humanitarian organization founded in 2013, to respond to the needs of the most vulnerable and marginalized groups of our society, without discrimination. SN’s headquarters are in Athens, with a regional office in Thessaloniki, and programs operating across Greece, including in the cities of Ioannina and Larisa. SolidarityNow has defined three strategic priorities to guide its programmes for the period 2026-2030: social protection and access to justice; inclusive education; and labour integration. To date, SN has supported more than 380,000 beneficiaries through an array of programming. SN has proven experience managing large-scale programmes and partnerships, including with UNICEF, UNHCR, the European Commission, the European Economic Area Grants, and numerous smaller-scale targeted interventions.
EU Legislative Interests
In line with its strategic orientation, SN follows developments related to the European Pillar of Social Rights and its Action Plan, particularly regarding poverty reduction, social inclusion, and access to adequate housing, including the European Platform on Combatting Homelessness and the Lisbon Declaration commitments. SolidarityNow follows EU initiatives, policies, and legislative files undertaken by DG HOME about the reception, integration, and returns of third-country nationals, such as the latest EU Pact on Migration and Asylum, and in particular the implementation of the EU Directives comprising the Common European Asylum System. SN monitors initiatives undertaken by the European Parliament concerning the restriction of civic space. SN also follows policy developments in the field of child protection, including the EU Strategy on the Rights of the Child, the European Child Guarantee, and the implementation of the Commission Communication on the Protection of Children in Migration. In addition, SN follows EU initiatives on inclusive education, and the integration of children from marginalised backgrounds. Legislative and policy developments on gender equality and the prevention of gender-based violence, including the Directive on combating violence against women and domestic violence, as well as initiatives related to equal participation in the workforce, including the Work-Life Balance Directive and measures addressing the gender pay gap are also among SN’s priorities. SN follows the EU Roma Strategic Framework for Equality, Inclusion and Participation 2020-2030 and related National Roma Strategic Frameworks. Finally, SN monitors developments concerning the enabling environment for civil society, including the European Democracy Action Plan, the Rule of Law Reports as they pertain to civic space, and Commission guidance on the protection of civil society organisations operating in challenging environments.
