Mission & Goals
The Alliance for European Flax-Linen & Hemp (formerly known as CELC, an association founded in 1951) is the only European agroindustrial organization that brings together and represents all players in the European Flax-Linen and Hemp value chain. It serves as a global reference for any reliable evidence-based data, including economic, technical and environmental, and guarantees the traceability of Flax fibre thanks to the Masters of FLAX FIBRE™ (ex-European Flax™) and Masters of LINEN™ certifications. The Alliance is committed to supporting the European Flax-Linen sector and its leadership - 3/4 of world production of Flax-Linen fibres in FR-BE-NL, with +128% cultivation surfaces expansion over last 10 years - as well as structuring and developing the hemp sector for textile. It has a three-fold mission: informing members, brands and consumers; supporting the European ecosystem and expertise; and promoting European Flax-Linen and Hemp as preferred sustainable premium fibres worldwide.
