Mission & Goals
- To increase the respect for childhood as a basis for human development and to create awareness of the needs of all children. • To develop and inspire ideas for solutions to those problems which could endanger the good quality of childhood. • To provide a platform for contacts, inspiration, exchange, peer learning, encouragement and dialogue among policy makers, decision makers, researchers, practitioners, parents and all people that have an influence on children’s lives.
EU Legislative Interests
Alliance For Childhood is active in the field of education and children rights in order to improve childhood in Europe. Therefore, EU policies and programmes of interest fall under the following Institutions and related activities: DG Education and Culture - Union of Skills - in particular Action plan on Basic Skills DG Employment and Social affairs - Child Guarantee - Youth Guarantee - Intergenerational Strategy - Union of Skills DG Justice and Consumers: - EU Child Rights Strategy DG Health A comprehensive approach on Mental Health At European Parliament, Alliance for Childhood follows the following legislative process and resolutions, particularly from the following Committees: EMPL : Child Guarantee , European Care Strategy LIBE and DROI: Child Rights Strategy implementation CULT: Early Childhood Education and Care and well-being at school Alliance collaborates also with the Intergroup of Child Rights at the European Parliament in the field of children participation, and to safeguard healthy and safe childhood
Communication Activities
Since 2006, Alliance asks the support of MEPs to organise event, the so called QoC- Talks, on topics related to improve quality of childhood. Alliance for Childhood collaborates with MEPs in providing them with contents, practices and updated research on topics related to mental health, education and social inclusion of children. Alliance for Childhood is members also of other networks (such as CRAG) with which shares campaigns on children rights
