Mission & Goals
The Center advances the organization's educational and scientific mission through independent, volunteer-driven research and analysis. ALLATRA GRC operates entirely on a volunteer basis and does not accept funding from any foreign governments. Its activities fully comply with U.S. federal and state regulations governing charitable and research institutions. Building upon the recognized interdisciplinary expertise of the ALLATRA International Public Movement, the Center serves as a collaborative platform for scientific inquiry and global dialogue on critical challenges facing humanity and the planet. ALLATRA GRC provides open-source research and analysis for policymakers, academic institutions, and the media, and has shared its expertise with congressional offices on a bipartisan basis. EU Legislative Interests
The Global Research Center ALLATRA Think Tank monitors, analyses and contributes research-based input to selected European Union legislative and policy initiatives. Its activities are focused on the following EU legislative proposals, regulations, directives and policy frameworks: Regulation (EU) 2021/1119 establishing the framework for achieving climate neutrality (European Climate Law), including its implementation, governance mechanisms and adaptation-related measures. Communication from the Commission on the European Green Deal (COM(2019) 640 final act, with attention to cross-sectoral policy coherence, climate-related risk assessment and environmental sustainability objectives. A European Strategy for Plastics in a Circular Economy (COM(2018) 28 final act, including policy measures related to plastic waste management, recycling systems and material efficiency. Directive (EU) 2019/904 on the reduction of the impact of certain plastic products on the environment, including regulatory implementation and monitoring aspects. A new Circular Economy Action Plan (COM(2020) 98 final act, particularly measures related to sustainable product policy, waste prevention and resource efficiency. Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 concerning the Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH) and related initiatives on chemicals management, including substances of concern and microplastics. EU Action Plan: Towards Zero Pollution for Air, Water and Soil (COM(2021) 400 final act, focusing on environmental quality standards, pollution prevention and monitoring frameworks. EU Biodiversity Strategy for 2030 (COM(2020) 380 final act, with regard to ecosystem protection, restoration objectives and environmental resilience. Directive (EU) 2024/1760 on corporate sustainability due diligence, addressing regulatory requirements related to environmental and human rights due diligence. Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union (2016/C 202/02), in relation to the protection of fundamental rights in the context of environmental and climate-related impacts. European Union Action Plan on Human Rights and Democracy 2020–2027 and subsequent policy initiatives relevant to environmental and social impacts. Regulation (EU) 2021/1115 on deforestation-free supply chains, including sustainability and traceability requirements. The think tank’s engagement is limited to analytical, research and informational activities, including the preparation of studies, policy analyses and participation in expert discussions with relevant stakeholders.
Communication Activities
The Global Research Center ALLATRA Think Tank’s communication activities are directly linked to its main activities, which consist of research, analysis and the dissemination of evidence-based information related to climate, environmental and human rights policies. Communication activities are conducted as a complement to the think tank’s research work and include the following: – Publication and dissemination of research outputs, including analytical reports, research papers, thematic studies and policy briefs related to European Union climate legislation, environmental protection measures (including plastic pollution and chemicals management) and human rights considerations associated with environmental impacts. These materials are made publicly available through the organization’s website and digital communication channels. – Participation in conferences, expert meetings, webinars and public forums relevant to the EU policy areas listed above, organised by EU institutions, EU-supported platforms, academic institutions and other stakeholders. Participation is primarily focused on presenting research findings, sharing analytical perspectives and contributing to expert-level discussions. – Organisation of research-based events, such as seminars, workshops and online discussions, aimed at presenting scientific data, methodological approaches and policy-relevant analysis related to EU legislative and policy initiatives. – Engagement in information exchange with EU institutions and stakeholders, including participation in public consultations, stakeholder dialogues and open hearings initiated by EU institutions, where relevant. Contributions are limited to the submission of research-based, factual and analytical input. – Use of digital communication tools (including newsletters, online platforms and social media) to disseminate research findings and informational content related to EU policies, without promoting specific legislative outcomes. All communication activities are conducted in support of the think tank’s main activities and are limited to research dissemination, expert dialogue and information sharing. The organization does not engage in direct lobbying or advocacy aimed at influencing specific legislative decisions.
