Mission & Goals
The Akadémiai Dolgozók Fóruma (Hungarian Academy Staff Forum – HASF) is a civil initiative launched by researchers of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences (MTA) amidst heightened political attacks against MTA’s research network in 2019. The research network that previously employed around 5000 researchers and staff was reorganised despite a general disapproval, including that of the MTA itself, its members, and employees of the institute network as well as international partner organizations for research performing and research funding. HASF aims to represent the collective interests of researchers and support staff concerning autonomy of science, status of employees, funding, and other framework conditions of scientific research in Hungary. HASF observes legal and informal processes that affect their members and the Hungarian research community, facilitates dialogues on academic freedom and labour rights, and promotes the protection of the dignity of researchers in Hungary.

Communication Activities
HASF operates, together with the online portal Átlátszó, a digital, anonymous whistleblowing platform, called Tudoleaks: TudoLeaks is a joint leak platform of the Forum of Academic Workers and Átlátszó. The anonymous whistleblowing platform is a platform to receive and publish material concerning the fields of science and higher education, which is jointly processed and published by ADF experts and Átlátszó journalists. Where is the money for research and higher education going? How are the funds distributed? What abuses are experienced by staff, teachers and researchers in universities and research institutes? https://atlatszo.hu/tudoleaks-szivarogtass-az-akademiai-dolgozok-forumanak-es-az-atlatszonak/ In spring 2022, HASF collaborated in publishing a book (Hungary turns its back on Europe 2.), together with other NGOs, on culture, education, science and the media in Hungary since 2020.
