Mission & Goals
The ASA is a voluntary organisation that represents the interests of Agricultural Science, Horticulture, Forestry, Environmental and Food science graduates. We organise a national conference in September annually for our members and also host a black tie gala dinner. Throughout the year, we might organise smaller events and visits for our members. A study tour is also part of our remit.
EU Legislative Interests
The association is not a lobbying organisation. From time to time, we may wish to travel to Brussels to meet with our MEPs and/or Commission staff for the purposes of allowing our members to see the EU institutions at work. Effectively this is a study tour. We hope to secure a meeting with Irish Meps. For this reason, we were asked to complete this registration process. As President of the Association, I wish to bring some members to Brussels to see how the institutions work. There is no agenda for this meeting. It will be more of a listening exercise to hear about topical issues from our MEPs. Our policy areas of interest will be agriculture and food.
