Mission & Goals
The AES Corporation is a Fortune 500 global power company, which provides affordable, sustainable energy to 17 countries. AES has been present in Bulgaria for nearly 20 years and has invested over EUR 1.6 billion in the country’s energy sector, including the largest windfarm in the country and the most modern coal-fired power plant. AES is the largest foreign investor in Bulgaria. AES is present in Bulgaria through: • AES Galabovo, a thermal power plant producing electricity entirely from local lignite originating from the Maritza East Basin located in the town of Galabovo (in the Stara Zagora region) (which was Bulgaria’s requirement); and • Saint Nikola Wind Farm, the largest wind farm in the country. AES Bulgaria contributes to the stabilisation of the energy sector and enhances the energy independence of the country through its diversified power generation facilities (AES Galabovo and Saint Nikola wind farm).
