Mission & Goals

ACM, the world’s largest educational and scientific computing society, delivers resources that advance computing as a science and a profession. ACM provides the computing field's premier Digital Library and serves its members and the computing profession with leading-edge publications, conferences, and career resources. General Goals • Promote computing as a science and profession within Europe. • Join with other computing and scientific organizations in Europe to offer educational and professional programs and activities. • Promote networking • Contribute independent technical expertise, insight, and analysis in support of informed and effective public policy.

EU Legislative Interests

The ACM Europe Technology Policy Committee (Europe TPC), an arm of ACM's global Technology Policy Council, in cooperation with ACM's Europe Council (ACM-E), monitors and contributes to the policy activities of the European Commission and Parliament, as well as of European governments, pertaining to the domains of computer science and computing, including the following areas of action: o Climate Ambition o Data Space Governance o Contact Tracing Technology o Digital Agenda for Europe o Smart Cities o Future of Ageing o Artificial Intelligence o Education and workforce development o Cloud computing o Copyright in the digital environment o Cybersecurity and privacy o EU-US free trade o EU strategic investment plan o Future internet o Autonomous Systems

Communication Activities

- ACM has established a global Technology Policy Council and within it the ACM Europe Technology Policy Committee with the specific purpose of dealing with European policy matters and operating in the context of the Transparency Register. - ACM-Europe publishes editorials in ACM's publications disseminated to ACM members around the world and to the public. - The ACM Europe Technology Policy Committee is an associate member of the European Internet Forum (EIF)
