Mission & Goals

The Association is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting freedom of expression, access to information, and independent journalism in the South Caucasus, particularly in Azerbaijan. It serves as the European-based exiled branch of Abzas Media, an independent investigative journalism platform from Azerbaijan. The Association aims to continue investigative reporting and to support and defend journalists and media professionals who are arrested, harassed, or otherwise persecuted, whether affiliated with Abzas Media or other independent outlets, inside or outside the country. It seeks to strengthen transparency, accountability, and civic participation through investigative journalism, media education, and advocacy for press freedom and the protection of journalists. To achieve its mission, AME may produce journalistic and educational content, organize trainings and partnerships, provide support and protection to journalists, and conduct research and advocacy on press freedom.
