Mission & Goals
Åbo Akademi University (ÅAU) in Turku, Finland, is an internationally acknowledged research university with an extensive responsibility for preserving the Swedish educational and cultural heritage as the only Swedish-speaking multidisciplinary university in Finland. The recent adoption and further development of the four strategic research areas (Minority Studies, Technologies for a sustainable future, Solutions for Health, and the Sea profile), has allowed ÅAU to focus on major national and European projects, as well as reinforce its status as a bridge between Finland and other Nordic states, advancing scientific collaboration in a variety of highly relevant research areas.
